Several artists took part this January in the first edition of the Mtnzik awards, a ceremony rewarding artists who had the most downloaded songs during the year 2015. Present with the Camer bloggers hang out team, I was privileged to see big names of Cameroonian urban music (King Kong Stanley Enow, Daphne Njie, Mel B, Duc-z, Dynasty le Tigre, Fidelis Fru…)
Above all, these young generation artists had their awards given to them by elders in the field.
These include Ben Decca, Dina Bell, and the diva Annie Anzouer. It was very nice to see great artists like Stanley Enow removing their caps to show respect to their elders.I even heard Annie Anzouer say the following to Stanley Enow: “Celebrate but know that it does not end here. It is just the beginning. After 30 years, people should still be talking about Stanley Enow.”
Such initiatives to support artists are very helpful, mostly in a context where institutions in charge of managing arts and culture seem to be much disorganized. One can sense his effort appreciated and compensated, thanks to Mtn. Special thanks to fabafriq (www.fabafriq.com) , for bringing together bloggers through these various hang outs.
I was opportune to take some interesting pictures, and to invite Fidelis Fru to the 2nd edition of the Festirock, musical Rock event my team organises every year during the youth week.
The best is surely to come
